Daniel Kochersberger

Daniel Kochersberger, originally of Canandaigua, New York, is a saxophonist actively participating in the ever-changing NYC contemporary music scene. Daniel is a founding member of the Manhattan Saxophone Quartet (www.manhattansaxophonequartet.com), the Epoch Saxophone Duo, and is the saxophonist for the New York-based ensemble Contemporaneous (www.contemporaneous.org). He has performed alongside artists such as David Byrne, Sondre Lerche, and Jherek Bischoff in new music venues including Times Square, Lincoln Center, (le) poisson rouge, the Flea Theater, NYU’s Skirball Center, National Sawdust, and Roulette.

In addition to orchestral appearances with the New World Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Mansfield Symphony, Plainfield Symphony, and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Daniel has performed as a soloist, recitalist and chamber player with the Contemporary Music Ensemble of Oberlin, the Chamber Winds Ensemble of Manhattan, the Manhattan Wind Symphony, Symphony Z and the Brooklyn College Wind Ensemble.

Daniel has been teaching saxophone and clarinet at Cornerstone since 2011, focusing on exposing students to a variety of styles and idioms while tailoring lessons to fit the individual needs and desires of each student. He also brings his advanced jazz piano sensibilities to his curriculum offerings at Cornerstone Music Studios.

Daniel received his BM at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and his MM at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Paul Cohen.
